Why is Amway focused on malnutrition?

Awareness of malnutrition is part of our history. Carl Rehnborg, the founder of the Nutrilite brand, worked on product ideas that would help combat childhood malnutrition. In 2006, workers on our organic farm in Brazil discovered a simple, yet profound solution to the malnourishment that plagued children in their community. By harvesting, drying and compressing the nutrient-rich plants grown on their farms into a mix that could be added into the children’s food, our farmers put malnourished children on a path to health and hope. This inspired the idea of Nutrilite Little Bits. Amway scientists leveraged the power of Nutrilite products that are backed by over 80 years of science and research.

    How it works

Nutrilite Little Bits is mixed once a day with any food that a child under 5 years of age would normally eat. The product is designed to have no taste, flavor or texture so it is acceptable for children from any culture. Nutrilite Little Bits can help reduce and prevent micronutrient deficiency, including iron deficiency anemia. Scientific research has shown that eliminating iron deficiency anemia can improve important developmental behaviors in children – such as being more active, more talkative and more interested in learning and playing.

    Clinically tested

A six-month clinical study was conducted with the Nutrilite Little Bits supplement in children 1 to 5 years old in the Mazahua area of Mexico. With the help of a local non-governmental organization, Un Kilo de Ayuda, children were given daily supplementation of Nutrilite Little Bits along with a nutrition care package to provide them with access to quality food. By the end of the study, there were major improvements in the health status of the children: significant improvements in their hemoglobin levels and anemia status, major improvements in weight and fewer signs of stunting, and better levels of activity.
